Notes for MSM4 vs. MSM7 in the RTCM Configuration of the EX-1

By default, the EX-1 “Base” mode has MSM4 enabled and MSM7 disabled. This is because MSM4 has a smaller data size compared to MSM7 and offers better compatibility. In practical testing, the difference between the two is minimal, but MSM4’s smaller size makes it more suitable for over-the-air transmission.

u-blox also recommends using MSM4 by default. However, if needed, users can manually enable the full set of MSM7 messages, which can also be recorded on the storage card.

Please note that u-blox does not recommend enabling both MSM4 and MSM7 simultaneously, as this could cause conflicts and prevent the Rover from properly recognizing the data. Please refer to the screenshot from the u-blox document below.
